6. Alpine SPS-610C 6-1/2 Component 2-Way Type-S Speaker System – Best Budget Component Speakers
No products found.
The next item of this list is a set of 2 speakers and 2 tweeters that are of premium quality but decently priced. They are 6.5 inches, which means that they can fit any existing standard speaker setup. The tweeters are 1-inch, which means that they are somewhat discreet but also have swivel mounts. Swivel mounts are preferred since you can direct the sound exactly where you would like. It is important to note that the speaker grilles are actually sold separately.
The Alpine SPS-610C speakers can easily handle high volume without any distortions to the audio. The speakers feature perfect construction and are indeed some of the best 6.5-inch speakers at this price point. The mid-ranges and highs are where the speakers shine. 7. Infinity Reference 6030cs 6.5-Inch 270-Watt Two-Way Component System – Best Component Speakers Under $100
No products found.
The Infinity Reference 6030cs is a bonus pick that consists of 2 speakers, one for the low-range and the other one for the mid-range. With these two, you get two tweeters as well as crossover commands. It is also important to keep in mind the low pricing. So, that’s a brief description of how the speaker system looks like, it is now time to get into the specifics.
The speaker’s cone has a large surface area to deliver better bass output as well as higher efficiency. The rubber surrounds bring cone-edge type suspension into the mix. The surrounds help to absorb distortions.
Then comes the design of the tweeters. The structure is such that it reduces distortion while increasing power handling, especially at a higher level of output. The edge-driven tweeter technology also facilitates better integration of the mid-range and woofer.
The installation of these speakers is one more factor that you need not to worry about. The complete mounting kit that’s included makes it incredibly easy to set up the unit. So, you can be sure that you are dealing with a solid set of component speakers.
Unlike other models previously mentioned here, the Infinity Reference 6030cs provide strong sound with decent bass thanks to the high-performing, durable rubber surrounds. These are the kind of components that audiophiles usually take into account during the process of selection.
Once more, the problem with the Infinity Reference 6030cs is the tweeters. Since the tweeters are incredibly bright, the highs tend to come out sharp and during such times, the sounds tends to be more metallic in terms of quality. However, if you are ready to look past this, you won’t have to deal with any other disappointments.

Fortunately, looks have little to do with the audio performance and it is bound to impress both seasoned audiophiles and casual music listeners alike.
Before delving into the impressive features of the product, it is worth pointing out that it isn’t for everybody. The Alpine SPR-60C is not just loud but is exceptional across the whole audio frequency range. However, compared to component speaker systems priced lower than itself, it doesn’t do anything special that can appeal to casual listeners of music. It is a system strictly targeted towards audiophiles.

This set comes with two speakers, and these nifty component speakers break the mold by proving that it is possible to get componnt speakers with great bass quality – if, of course, you know where to look! Pioneer is another one of those brands that has been around for a long time, and that is well-known and trusted. It’s a brand that people love to turn to for all kinds of audio.
These speakers feature individually mounted tweeters, which are present quite comfortably in the cutout. They offer great sound reproduction, and they are incredibly reliable when it comes to reproducing sound, giving you everything you would expect, including the right ambience, and smooth, open audio with good staging.
There’s a good widening effect which extends beyond the area between the speakers – and the bass is powerful and not muffled or dull. 18. Pioneer TS-A1606C A-Series 6.5″ 350W Component Speakers – Full, Rich Listening Experience
- 350 Watts Max Power (80 Watts RMS)
- 20 mm polyimide (PI) hard dome tweeter
- 1-5/8" cellulose fiber cone midrange
- 6-1/2" carbon and mica reinforced Injection Molded Polypropylene...
- Sound Pressure Level (Sensitivity) 85 dB (+- 1.5dB)
Pioneer are a hugely popular brand, and with good reason. In November 1975, the company released the first ever component car stereo, and since then component speakers have taken over the landscape. While this specific set of speakers may not be as groundbreaking as that initial innovation, they are carrying on that legacy, and they are doing a good job of that. When it comes to things like audio quality, it’s easy to see that the brand is one that is a market leader. There are some issues, though. The 350W part of the description is the peak power output. The RMS power output is much poorer, at just 60W, but that should be sufficient for most people, especially if they are dealing with a smaller or medium-sized vehicle.
The price point makes it hard to quibble, too. Yes, this isn’t going to offer mind-blowing sound, but it is more than up to the needs of a casual listener, and it’s certainly squarely in the satisfactory category when it comes to car audio. The price, and the reliability and top-notch customer support of the Pioneer brand are things that make it hard to complain, too. This is a speaker set that is positioned squarely at the ‘causal audiophile’ market, and it serves that market very well, taking the key pluses of Pioneer, and putting them into an affordable but robust package.
19. Hertz HSK 165 6.5″ 2-way Hi-Energy Component Speaker System HSK165 – Professional’s Choice: Best Component Speaker
- HSK-165 - Hertz 6.5" 250W Peak 2-Way Component Speaker System
- Power Handling: 250W Peak | 125W RMS
- 25mm (1") HT 25 Neodymium REN Tweeter
- 165mm (6.5") HV 165 Woofer DIN
This offers a good balance between sound quality, output per watt, and bass response. The speakers are a great choice for any audiophile, even those who are looking for an entry-level system. It is well reviewed, and yes it’s a little more expensive than, say, a basic Pioneer set, but for that you’re getting power handling at 600W, with 300W RMS, and a frequency response of 50 – 22000Hz. The set offers a damped XL Mesh Fiber Cone, and a vented bottom plate, as well as a die-cast aluminium basket. It is made with an oversized Neodymium magnet, and lossless polymer rubber surrounds.
Hertz is well-known for offering incredibly well-made equipment, and the 2-way system lives up to that reputation, even down to the mounting accessories that help to ensure that no matter what car you put it into, it will look great. The mid-bass is stunning, and the tweeters can be a little bright upon first testing, but can be adjusted via the crossovers, which allow for some flexibility with the configuration.
20. Kicker 40CSS654 6.5″ 300W Component Speakers Systems
- New Kicker 40CSS654 6.5" 300 Watt Car Audio Component Speakers Systems
- R M S Power: 100 Watts
- MAX Power: 300 Watts
- Impedance: 4-Ohms
With a peak power output of 300W and an RMS of 100W, these are not going to power a concert, but they are certainly good enough for in-car use for most people. These will perform well in the mid to high frequency ranges, and they have good bass output too, but they can be slightly disappointing in the mid-range. This means that how much you like those speakers will depend on what sort of music you typically listen to. If you want good bass, though, and you like Kickers, then you’ll find that the price point, build quality, and power output of this particular set of component speakers is more than up to the job for most kinds of music. The tweeters are surprisngly good, and the aesthetics won’t disappoint either – the unique, slightly sporty design of the grille is something that helps the set to stand out.
21. Renegade RX6.2C 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System – Set of 2 (Black) – Solid Budget Speakers
- 6. 5" 2-Way Component System
- Peak: 400 watts per set / 200 watts each side
- RMS: 200 watts per set / 100 watts each side
- Polypropylene woofer cones
- Butyl rubber surrounds
The value the Renegade RX6.2C, 2-Way Component System offers is one of the things that really stands out about it. While most users were actually quite skeptical about its performance before they started using it, once they started using it they realized that it is on par if not superior to a coaxial speaker system in the under $50 price range.

Coaxials Versus Components: A Brief Overview
Basically there are two types of car speakers – coaxial and component speakers. There is actually a simple different between the two, which I’m going to give you right now. When people are looking for advice regarding car speakers, usually we tell them component speakers, along with their separate tweeters and woofers, provide better stereo imaging and therefore an excellent listening experience compared to coaxial speakers. However, coaxial speakers (which are also called full-range), feature the tweeter and woofer mounted on the same exact chassis, and that usually makes it easier to install them.
What Advantages Do Component Speakers Have Over Coaxial Speakers?
Since component speakers systems have separate crossovers, tweeters, and woofers, they have a tendency to deliver outstanding stereo-imaging and realistic sound inside of the car, which makes them a great choice for serious audio enthusiasts.
On the other hand, regular coaxial speakers, whether aftermarket or factory-installed combine the tweeter and woofer into one speaker. It is a convenient ways of getting great sound from one speaker opening. However, this arrangement results in the placement of both the tweeter and woofer being compromised. Also, when a tweeter is mounted on the top of the woofer cone, to some degree, it will always interfere with the sound waves that the woofer produces.
When it comes to component speakers, the thing we like most is that the tweeter and woofer are independently mounted – and that allows each of the components to operate at their full potential, which eliminates sound weave interference between the tweeter and woofer. Most important of all, independent tweeters may be mounted wherever you think they will perform their best. An optimum sound staging and imaging will be provided by well-positioned tweeters.
Component speakers work just fine operating off of aftermarket high-powered heat units. However, when an external amplifier powers them that is when they really shine. Component systems frequently are designed for handling higher power amounts compared to their normal coaxial counterparts.
Why Do Component Speakers Sound A Lot Better?
They have separate tweeters and woofers
Full-range speakers have a woofer for lows, and then there is a tweeter that is mounted on top of the woofer in order to produce the highs, and all of these are combined in a single speaker. When all drivers are combined into one unit this is a very convenient way of getting great sound into one opening. However, the downside is the tweeter and woofer to some extent are both compromised within the arrangement. Also, a tweeter that is mounted on top of a woofer cone always, to some degree at least, will interfere with the sound waves that the woofer produces.
A typical component system is comprised of separate external crossovers, tweeters, and woofers, with them all being designed so that work in conjunction with each other. With component speakers, the tweeters and woofers are mounted separately from one another, and this allows each of the components to operate at their full potential, which solves the problem of woofer performance being impeded by the tweeter. That also allows you to position and mount the tweeters for optimum sound-staging and imaging.
External crossovers are used
External crossovers are used by component speakers to route sound frequencies over to the right driver – highs to the tweeters and lows to the woofers – so that each of the components only gets the range of frequencies that it has been designed to play. That allows you to enjoy sound reproduction that is more efficient and distortion-free.
They are able to handle more power
Frequently component speakers are built using high quality materials and are able to handle lots of power compared to brand coaxial counterparts. They sound great when they are run off of your aftermarket head unit. However, where they will really shine is when an external amplifier powers them. The trick is to avoid your speakers being under-powered. For your component speakers to truly sing, make sure to feed them enough power. If you are intending to add on an external amp to your car’s audio system, be sure to get a set of component speakers that are able to perform well on the head unit alone.
Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose The Best Component Speaker?
If you would like to amp your car’s factory stereo up or are interested in creating an amazing aftermarket sound system, it is key that you find the very best component speakers. Whether you aren’t sure where to begin or are searching for the top 3 way component speakers, don’t worry. We have researched the best-selling brands and top products to put our components speakers review together. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most important features you need to be aware of.
Speaker Materials And Design
The speaker woofer determines a speaker’s responsiveness and quality. The stiffer and lightweight the material that is used, the more effective a speaker will be. A common material for making the cone is Polypropylene. Also higher quality car speakers use woven fabrics like Kevlar. In higher end speakers aluminum as well as titanium are used.
2. Woofer Surrounding
A woofing’s surrounding is another important aspect of the speaker system. It might affect the sound that is produced. Lightweight, free moving and durable materials are used that allow the woofer to move without a lot of energy. For long-lasting speakers this material is necessary. As the speakers are employed and get older, the wear-and-tear and humidity levels may crack and destroy a woofer’s surrounding.
Normally a rubber sounding is the most high performance and long-lasting. Foam and cloth surroundings are found on more inexpensive car speakers with shorter life spans and low performance.
Whenever you purchase a component car speaker set, usually the crossover is part of this package. What external crossovers are used for is to reduce the speaker’s quantity of distortion. This is performed by separating its frequency inputs. Also, signals may cross from the coated wiring which can result in distortion. This will be minimized by an external crossover system.
A majority of our top solutions are 6.5 inches, however, we mixed things up and were able to find options for 5.25 and 6.75 inches as well. We are even able to find an amazing system that is oval 6 x 9 pinches.
The number includes not just the speaker sets of the actual tweeters and woofers but the accessories as well: crossover housings, wires, or other major equipment. However, our number does not include installation hardware.
Human hearing is at the 20 – 20,000 Hz range. However, usually anything under 30 Hz is the type of low bass that you feel more than you hear. Therefore, for speakers covering 30 – 20,000 Hz provides the best sound for you.
Basically the output wattage is how much power there is behind the sound. Tweeters and woofers vary in that. We used the number that is the maximum power that can be given by the speaker at the music’s most intense parts.
That specific mounting depth you are going to need will mainly depend on how much space and type car you have. Some of those speakers come with options and may be mounted at an angle, on the surface or flush.
Remember that when these speakers are added there will be weight added to your car. It isn’t much weight, but you should be aware of this. We are giving the total weight of the speakers combined.
A product’s price, more often than not, equates to its quality. Therefore, many people think that the more affordable a particular product is, the lower the quality will be and vice versa. That isn’t always true. In choosing component speakers, better quality is offered by different brands without a huge hole being burned in your pocket. In terms of choosing the best component system, a top priority should be to aim for getting value for your money.
The sensitivity rating of the speaker measures the quantity of sound that will be emitted by the speaker from the provided power. The higher its sensitivity is, the ore efficient the speaker will be. For a lower powered system, a higher sensitivity rating is needed. A lower sensitivity rating is needed for a higher-powered system. Higher power is handled by low sensitivity rated speakers.
RMS Power Rating
Although the Peak Power Output of a speaker system is usually proudly displayed by most brands it isn’t as important as RMS Power Output. RMS (Root Mean Square) power defines the maximum amount of power that can be handled by the speakers over an extended period of time. Therefore, it important that this value be paid closed attention to. If your amplifier is powered to match your speaker’s peak power output, you will end up blowing it away in a short period of time.
Not many car audio brands actually conform to CEA standards, however, it is an important way of knowing whether or not your speaker’s RMS rating is really legitimate. If your speakers don’t have CEA certification, keep your amplifier output under the RMS rating to stay on the safe side.
Connecting Cables and Wires
There are multiple components contained in Component Speaker Systems which including pairs of crossovers, tweeters and woofers. Connecting all of the components together may be a big hassle. That is why it is always nice when the right mounting gear, wires, and cables are included in the box.
Product Warranty and Brand Reliability
Speaker systems are sold by some of the lesser known brands that have substantial RMS Power Rating at a much lower price compared to top vehicle audio brands. However, it isn’t always a good idea to buy those products since the companies are lacking in customer support and solid reliability of brands like Alpine, Pioneer, and Rockford Fosgate.
How To Install Component Speakers?
How you install a component speaker system is determined by how you place each unit. It is important that place all of your crossovers, tweeters, and woofers at the recommended places.
In most cars, there are pre-set sections where one can easily mount a tweeter or woofer; however, if that is not the case, you may have to mold the space in accordance with your installation needs.
Here are some of the steps involved when installing newly bought component speakers.
Mount your woofer on a door – Car doors are amongst the best places to mount a woofer as most woofers perfectly fit in the holes meant for the car’s speakers. To install a woofer on a door, remove the grille before taking out the door panel to access and remove the car’s original speakers. It is worth noting that the grille plays a crucial role as they protect the speakers and keep them intact with the door’s panel.
Remove the old speaker and fit the new one – Once you have accessed the original speakers, unscrew it and detach it from all the wires carefully. In most cases, you will need a sharp knife or blade to cut the wires as they are often glued in place with a sealant. Removing the old speaker will leave space to mount the new one, but this is something that will require some attentiveness and sure hands.
Audio makers generally advertise their speakers and products using terms like “Peak Power” or “Max Power”. But that does not matter. When talking about power, RMS is the main value to consider as it is the only thing that will allow you to make any meaningful comparison between products. Why?
RMS, abbrev. Root Mean Square (no need for a math lesson), measures the amount of continuous power a speaker or component can safely handle. Peak power, on the other hand, refers to how high a system can go at max output, but cannot stay at that level of wattage for too long without causing an issue. This is why devices advertised as having peak power are a little misleading. The most crucial thing to consider is sustained sonic output for a long period. RMS allows you to easily and quickly compare the power outputs of different components. That means that a 200-watt MAX speaker but with a 60-watt RMS is not as powerful as a 100-watt speaker with 80-watt RMS.
When we talk about speaker frequency response or range, you probably have an idea of what we are talking about. Right? On the surface, it is pretty straightforward. Range measures how much audible sound a speaker can produce and is measured in Hz or Hertz. In this case, low numbers are deep, long tones like the booming of a drum while the high numbers are sharp, shorter tones like the chirping of birds. It is quite obvious that we are all only concerned with the part of the Soundwave we humans can hear. Our ears can respond to anything between 20Hz and 20KHz (20,000KHz).
Range, in itself, is quite simple to understand but is very hard to master. To fully appreciate the implications range has and how it applies to different audio equipment, you will have to venture into some very complex mathematics. But we won’t be looking at that today. The important thing to remember for now is that range is a convenient way to measure that amount of audible sound a device is able to produce. Remember this: It does not tell you anything about sound quality!
Impedance is a fancy term for the amount of AC resistance existing in the wiring of your speakers. It is worth noting that different frequencies could have varying impedance value. Generally speaking, most of the loudspeakers out there have a resistance ranging between 4 and 8 ohms. The most important thing to ensure is that your speakers have the same impedance with your amp. Higher impedance will mean that the amplifier will have to push for more voltage to create the same quality of sound. At the same time, this could mean that a component can comfortably handle more juice without ever taking damage. Just ensure that all your values are aligned and there will be no need to worry about impedance.
Sensitivity is not about how delicate or fragile a speaker is, nor is it about feelings. Sensitivity is a universal standard or metric that tells you the amount of loudness or sound pressure an audio device will make at a specified distance on just a single watt. This, therefore, means that the more sensitive a speaker is, the lesser power it will require to produce the volume amount. In simpler terms, it translates raw power into clear and quality audio.
The kind of car you own will often determine the amount of room you have to with as you build your car stereo system. However, ensure that you do not make the same mistake I did by assuming that depth is universal. Doing so could save you from a lot of heartache and money too.
Work your components around the car and not vice versa. What’s the amount of space you need to mount your speaker? What is the difference between “bottom mount” depth and “top mount” depth? How much room will you need to mount the speaker in your vehicle? What’s the difference between “top mount” depth and “bottom mount” depth?
Top-Mount is the amount of space the top a speaker needs when getting installed. That is just how far the speaker will jut out into the interior of your car. Bottom-mount depth, on the other hand, refers to the amount of room your speaker’s bottom will need to clear within the interior of your panel or dash.
For all time’s sake, we often focus on the most common measurements available – the top mount depth.
A vehicle’s component speaker system is indeed vital to every car owner whether for public or private use. At the same time, the car speakers you get should be able to perform and should be one that lasts really long.
Other crucial things to consider when choosing or buying the best component speakers include affordability, quality, and durability. Understanding the most vital things when searching for car components is important. With so many options on the market, choosing the best component speakers can be hectic and tasking; nevertheless, with the right guidance and by reviewing different products, finding what you need shouldn’t be that hard.
